I love the workouts we do.

They are GREAT!

There are some things that I love because of the sheer repetition, like sit-ups or push-ups. Some because I like the fact that I’m concuring my fears, like Push-Presses, and others simply because I KNOW how good they are to my body like Kettlebell Swings, or… Turkish Get-Ups (this one is of a guy using his wife as the weight, which adds an interesting twist) .  But when I hear those words, I think of pain and process.

The back is still somewhat troubling, but is definitely well on the road to recovery. My trainer & I had a chat about it this am, and we agreed that it probably occurred in a one-handed movement that had a twisting component to it. So he made sure that the work we did today did not include this, lowered the weights a bit, and away we went!

At Monday’s workout, I pulled some muscles in my middle back, just below the left side of my ribcage. It hurts, it spasms, and generally, it’s been, well, a pain.

So, I’ve missed Wednesday’s & Friday’s  workout. I’m pissed. I love my workouts. I’d even say I’m addicted. I may have to go take a walk later, just to say I did something, anything.

Plus, next week when I’m back to working out, I’ll have to start making up for lost ground.

Call me grumpy.

Today’s class was brutal! We did lots of movements, and for a longer than usual time frame.

Today was not a great performance by me. Still recovering from the cold, and have obviously not been working out enough. It wasn’t a BAD performance, just a stride or so slower than usual.

Our house seems to be a big common-cold magnifier, as every member of our house came down with a cold over the last seven days. I’m the last affected member, and unfortunately, it’s the kind of thing that keeps me out of the gym. Monday was an off day, and we’ll see what I feel like on Wednesday morning.

Tough Day: Lifting Photgraphs April 10, 2008

Today is an auspicious day for me. On this day, I hung some of my photos on public display for the first time ever, and yes, they are for sale!
It’s not that this was a big workout day or anything, but on a certain level, it’s hard work putting yourself ‘out there’ .

Today was a brutal workout. At the end, we were all shaky. One of us went to the restroom because of nausea. I myself was very shaky, and also feeling a little queezy. Guess the trainer was rarin’ to go after being out on Monday!
