Today was not a great performance by me. Still recovering from the cold, and have obviously not been working out enough. It wasn’t a BAD performance, just a stride or so slower than usual.

Sometimes you just don’t got it.

Hey, my wife has totally sucked me into pilates… and although I like the muscle soreness I’m getting, I have to admit I’m getting a little bored with being so static… I figure with your kettle bell stuff I’d be much more active…

What do you say I ride out to your studio and you and your teacher show me a good time?

I just started using kettlebells with my dad and I’m very impressed! I see you’re into them too. I started building muscle mass like it was nobody’s business. Keep up the good work!

I’ve found that our workouts build up muscles I didn’t know I had. I think that there are two reasons for this, aside from the obvious one of lifting a heavier weight: 1) The process of lifting free weights over your head activates a lot of your core muscles not usually used in the sit-up; 2) Swinging things means you also have to use muscles you don’t normally use in other exercises. Staying off the normal weight machines is a better workout!

The upside to all of this is that I’m getting into serious shape! And, I’ve dropped quite a bit of weight (through diet, too), since starting these workouts. I’m guessing that I’m right around 175 - 178, and I’ve dropped two inches from around my waist in the course of the last 12 months.

Good luck with your workouts, I’ll be interested to see your progress. Also, check out the crossfit site, http://www.crossfit.com, for some ideas for (killer) workouts.

Brad:

Yup, we need to figure out how to get you into the gym for a session. Let me know your general availability over any given week, and let’s take it from there.

I guarantee that it’s not a static workout!

Exactly. It’s a beautiful thing. Those Russians…

I’m just a little thing so I only lift 15 lbs each right now but I think I’m going to move up to 18 lbs each this summer. I’m surprised how easy 15 lbs became after only a few sessions. My dad has the body builder-type body though (short legs, big core, big bone structure) so he didn’t find it as hard as I did but I managed to keep up! : )
