We’re all on a path, we’re all working on something.

For me, the next big thing I need to work on in my workouts is to develop my kipping pull-up. This is an important skill to add to my capabilities because this little maneuver gives one a much greater capacity to do more pull-ups in a given amount of time. And, I feel highly compelled to improve my pull-up times!

Anyway, here’s what we did at the Gang-up on Saturday:

New to me, anyway.

Parelettes are a small version of parallel bars.  They let you increase your range of motion on some movements, or allow you to do variations on a theme of others. Handy to have if you have limited space to work out, or to make people talk. I think they have a whole lot of them down at Gitmo, but I have a tendency towards conspiracy theories.

Today, I was joined in my workout w/two other guys who are pretty close to me in ability. So close that in some things, they are better than me, and in others, I’m better than they are. This can be really good. Today, it was distracting. But, a good lesson in focus. Must stay focused on the next rep!

Still recovering, but… April 28, 2008

The back is still somewhat troubling, but is definitely well on the road to recovery. My trainer & I had a chat about it this am, and we agreed that it probably occurred in a one-handed movement that had a twisting component to it. So he made sure that the work we did today did not include this, lowered the weights a bit, and away we went!
